It’s not common knowledge in North America that Nando’s hails from South Africa. Or, unfortunately, that South Africa is a country—known, among other things, for its delicious cuisine. (A lot of customers we interviewed thought they were eating Peruvian food because of name PERi-PERi and the ubiquity of Peruvian chicken.)

We sought to change all of that by using split imagery and spicy copy to build awareness for South African food and culture.

Transit ads for various areas of Chicago to get the attention of people on their way to work.

Social ads targeted consumers to build awareness.

The South Africa journey continued once we got customers to the store.

A sauce kit complete with a bottle of sauce and post cards to send to friends was sent out to influencers to spread the word about the NA campaign.

Being a little late to the app game, Nando’s needed a way to let people know their food was ready to order online.
